Packing Lite

When you are finished picking your flight, and doing your finishing touches on your Airbnb's, now its time for packing. As I did a month in Italy, and I was staying in an apartment for school there was no real travel besides from the taxi to the airport, but I was traveling for a week after I got out of class. Going from Florence, to Venice, than to Switzerland, back to Milan and finally back to Florence I needed to realize that luggage I had for a month, sitting there was coming with me EVERYWHERE. So I had to think light, even for the whole month of being there. So I did my research and figured out 8 great tools to help you pack lite:

Packing lite:

1. Pack all your medications; as well as extras, its very expensive in other countries.

2. Pack cloths that are necessary. If it's 90 degrees in Italy right now, don't pack a cute sweater for going out (YOU WON'T WEAR IT).

3. Don't pack your toilet trees; Italy and other countries have supermarkets and corner stores.

4. If your not going for a photography class, don't pack your professional camera.

5. Invest in a "Anti-Theft Backpack/Shoulder bag"

6. Realize that there are washer machines in Italy, NO DRYERS!

7. Buy euro outlet converters!

8. Pack sneakers and one pair of flip-flops. NO HEELS, I promise.

If I had this check list before I went, I'd have been so much happier than carrying around a 49 pound tumor I called my luggage. Another great thing I did learn when I was there is that 9 out of 10 airports or train stations you go to they have a 'Luggage Hold'. You pay a small fee for each hour so you can go and wonder without your giant luggage if you cant live without your 14 pairs of shoes.
